Tin Toy Stories

Bijutsu-kan Gallery at Epcot

Opened September 2003

Part of the authenticity of Epcot is the inclusion of real artifacts in museum quality environments. “Tin Toy Stories” featured over 100 antique tin toys from the collection of Kitahara Teruhisa. The gallery was filled with an eclectic mix of spacemen, robot rabbits, laser basters, race cars and giant koi.  The team built simple setwork that would feature the tin toys and not distract from it.  The largest set piece was a reproduction of a child’s bedroom in Japan during the 1950s.  The exhibit ran for seven years in the Bijutsu-kan gallery in the Japan showcase and set a new standard for cultural exhibits in the park.
